Certification training for water efficiency launched in South Africa
The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) has contracted South African accredited AEE trainer, Richard Garner, to adapt the Certified Water Efficiency Professional (CWEP) qualification program for international relevance and application. The Energy Training Foundation (EnTF) is proud to have Richard in this position and we are launching the Certified Water Efficiency Professional (CWEP) from 12-14 July 2017 at Kopanong Conference Centre and Hotel in Johannesburg.
CWEP is a fundamentals course and as such, covers everything from contextual policy through to some integrated energy and water calculations for financial savings at a high level. It includes all the major water use facilities as well as how to conduct a water audit, use a water balance and measure water, with some Measurement and Verification elements.
Key facilities under discussion is everything from domestic facilities through to irrigation, pipes and commercial cooling facilities. The approach is to illustrate how these utilise water and to show what to look for. Although experience in the field will be a benefit for writing the exam which needs to be passed with 70% in order to be able to apply for Certification, there is still a lot of new content to be learnt during the training, and can accommodate those who only wish to come to gain new knowledge and information on the industry. The examination is voluntary, and no pre-requisites for taking the course exists. Pre-requisites are only applicable for those pursuing the Certification qualification.
There is no doubt that using our scarce and critical water resources efficiently must be a priority, on par with the importance of using energy efficiently. CWEP is launched in South Africa to provide a platform for experienced individuals in the water sector to obtain an internationally recognised qualification, as well as to develop and contribute to the education of the water industry.
